Bethesda Softworks, legendary for the Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, has opened up a workplace in Sydney Australia.

Should you thought you recognized Bethesda Softworks, you most likely did due to the Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. It’s certainly one of their top titles, and so many people are acquainted with it. As goes Bethesda Softworks, they have finally opened up a workplace in Sydney Australia.

Of places, why Australia?

Australia includes a growing market and it is an excellent place for Bethesda Softworks to plant a workplace. ZeniMax Australia Pty Limited will oversee sales, marketing, and distribution for Bethesda titles in New zealand and australia.

During an announcement earlier today, Simon Alty was named the md from the Sydney office, getting much experience of marketing and advertising for games. ZeniMax Europe’s md Sean Brennan designed a statement:

“Simon’s expertise and experience within the games industry – particularly getting labored on marketing and advertising of Bethesda’s titles the final 4 years – is going to be of effective value once we open a publishing office in Sydney. Searching ahead, 2014 promises to become a big year for Bethesda once we to produce trio of AAA titles: The Elder Scrolls Online, Wolfenstein: The Brand New Order and also the Evil Within.”

As 2014 is drawing closer, don’t be surprised excellent achievements from Bethesda Softworks, and New zealand and australia can get to consider a bigger role because the marketplace is opening wider on their behalf.

I think a game like Pokemon would work great on a smart watch. Imagine walking around in the real world with the watch tracking where you are and how many steps you take. Every now and then Pokemon jump out at you for a battle, every time you go home your Pokemon are refreshed, you can battle with other people, etc, etc.nI would buy a smart watch for that experience but oh yeah… it’s Nintendo so it won’t happen.

In both Romeo & Juliet and Saving Private Ryan, the deaths are well into the story. There is time to develop the story of these characte1 and develop an emotional attachment. I don’t know Gone With the Wind so won’t comment on that.nIn Shadows of Mordor, we know very little about the main character’s wife, have no emotional attachment, and are therefore not inclined to care very much. The graphical nature of the murde1 at the beginning is gut-wrenching no matter almost who is being murdered: if a reasonable human being witnesses this kind of action, he or she will be appalled.nIn Jawbone54’s example of introduction > conflict > rising action > climax > falling action > resolution, there is barely any introduction and barely any explanation for conflict beyond “oh, bad dudes are attacking”. There is barely any rising action because control is taken away from the player at the moment that the bad dudes sneak up, regardless of player action.nThere is only brutal climax here, without real context, and without motivation to care, because only a few minutes of the game to that point have been dedicated to character development. I care that human beings are being brutally murdered on the screen, because I am a pe1on too, but I don’t specifically care that “my wife and son” are being murdered because the game has not developed this story to a point where I can be emotionally attached, unlike Romeo & Juliet and Saving Private Ryan.
